Wisdom tooth extraction
Wisdom teeth are a group of teeth in the upper and lower jaws that are supposed to fall out by the time you're in your early twenties. This 3rd and last molar does not erupt in the proper direction for many people. They could be misaligned or harmed (trapped in the bone). When wisdom teeth are impacted, it is recommended that they be extracted.
Due to a lack of room, other teeth begin to push forward.
Cavities on both molars result from food accumulating between the 2nd and 3rd molars.
The gums surrounding the wisdom tooth are inflamed, swollen, or infected (pericoronitis)
We can predict if your wisdom teeth will become a problem based on x-rays. Some patients have severe symptoms, while others have none at all. However, there is a great chance that an issue will arise, especially at inconvenient periods like vacation or pregnancy. We'll go over all of your options with you.
What Does The Extraction Procedure Involve?
The removal of wisdom teeth can be easy or surgical. Our maxillofacial surgeon will utilise x-rays to assess the condition of the surrounding bone and the position of the tooth's roots beneath the gum line during your appointment to select the type of operation.
Local anaesthetic is used in both circumstances to make the process more comfortable and pain-free. Small sutures are inserted after the extraction. Gauze is used to stop bleeding and aid in the healing of the gums.
After surgery, you should expect some stiffness and swelling, so take the prescribed drugs and follow the aftercare recommendations. Plan ahead of time because you should be alright in 72 hours. Please contact us if the pain does not subside within this time frame.
